My work is a woman posing as if she had been kidnapped, with two extra mouths instead of eyes on her face, and her arms covered in red Chinese writing about “language problems”. I think the power of language is very great. Since ancient times, Chinese people have always believed that gossip is terrible. There is a kind of harm, which will not leave a scar on your body, but can cast a shadow on your heart that will never go away, and even ruin a person’s life. That is verbal violence. This kind of injury is more serious and terrible than the superficial wound. Verbal violence is also violence. It’s not just violence, it’s invisible and common violence. Because hurt invisible, because common, so see strange not strange, feel nothing. But this is one of life’s most common and unrecognized violence problems.
